BEHIND THE CURTAIN
Today is my birthday.
Every year, I spend a little time thinking about the memories that changed my life, today I wanted to share with you.
Oddly enough, one of the biggest wasn’t a birthday.
It was the day a Lexus launch event I’d spent months planning was canceled in March 2020.
I can still picture that morning.
The coffee brewing in the showroom. Salespeople laughing together before opening. Service advisors talking with customers. It felt like every other day.
Until it didn’t.
In a matter of minutes, months of work disappeared. An opportunity I believed would define the next chapter of my career was simply…gone.
At the time, I thought I had lost something.
Looking back six years later, I realize I had actually been given something.
A push.
If that event hadn’t been canceled, I’m not sure I would have started writing consistently on LinkedIn. I probably wouldn’t have built my personal brand. I wouldn’t have written both books, spoken on stages & podcasts, worked with hundreds of leaders, launched an AI coaching app, or started building my second company.
The career I thought I wanted ended.
The life I have now began.
Here’s what I’ve learned since then:
Most of us don’t wait because we aren’t capable.
We wait because we’ve convinced ourselves we need to be more experienced.
More confident.
More qualified.
More ready.
The stories we tell ourselves become the ceilings we live beneath.
Your personal brand isn’t about becoming an influencer.
It’s about creating opportunities before you need them.
It’s about making sure your expertise doesn’t stay trapped inside your own head.
It’s about giving people the chance to find you before they ever meet you.
You don’t control when industries change.
You don’t control layoffs, reorganizations, or unexpected turns.
But you do control whether people know who you are, what you stand for, and why they should trust you.
That’s why I built Visible Leader.
